Sono nato a Cortina d’Ampezzo, nel cuore delle Dolomiti.
Fin da bambino ho amato e sono stato amato dalla mia Valle e dalle mie Montagne. Scalavo e facevo lunghissime gite, ero particolarmente attratto dai colori della terra e delle rocce, dai fiori di giugno e dai minacciosi temporali di luglio. Ho iniziato a fotografare nel 1983, la mia prima reflex è stata una Nikon FE2 corredata da quattro obiettivi: 28–35-50 e uno zoom 75-150.
Non senza presunzione ho pensato che quella macchinetta nera e argento mi restituisse fedelmente tutto ciò che vedevo attraverso il mirino. Mi sbagliavo! Che frustrazione ritirare le foto dal laboratorio e vederle cosi inerti, senza vita e con i cieli lattiginosi. Non per questo mi sono perso d’animo, ho consultato molti libri e riviste di fotografia e ho consumato innumerevoli rullini per fare prove fotografiche e prendere appunti. Il 1983 è stato anche l’anno in cui ho cominciato a viaggiare per il mondo, intraprendendo un lungo percorso che mi ha arricchito sotto ogni aspetto. Ho vissuto per circa tre anni tra l’Inghilterra, gli Stati Uniti, il Canada, il Messico e l’America Latina. Sempre accompagnato dal mio corredo Nikon, ho colto l’occasione per fotografare moltissimo, il Nuovo Mondo mi offriva spunti infiniti, tutto serviva per fare esperienza e cosi, poco a poco, ho migliorato la tecnica e la composizione.
Nel 2005 sono approdato alla fotografia digitale, ma non senza nostalgia per i giorni passati nell’attesa di ritirare le mie dia dal laboratorio e verificarne la qualità. Ora è tutto più facile, i risultati si vedono immediatamente e se gli scatti non sono buoni si cancellano e si rifanno. Però si sa, alle comodità ci si abitua molto rapidamente! E adesso? Rimango un grandissimo appassionato di fotografia, sempre alla ricerca di nuovi stimoli e ispirazioni. Fotografo un po’ di tutto, anche se le mie preferenze sono rimaste invariate, ovvero la natura in tutte le sue forme e colori.

I was born in Cortina d’Ampezzo, Italy.
From when I was a child I loved and was loved by my valleys and mountains.
I went climbing and on long treks, I was particularly attracted by the colours of the earth, rocks, the flowers that bloomed in June and the threatening thunderstorms of July. I began taking photographs in 1983, my first SLR was a Nikon FE2 equipped with four lenses: 28-35-50 and a 75-150 zoom lens. Without being conceited I thought that black and silver camera would faithfully capture all that I viewed through my lens. But I was wrong! Picking the prints up from the lab and seeing them so colourless, without life, with pale hazy sky.
I did not lose faith, I have read up on many specialist books and magazines, went through innumerable rolls of film to practice and take notes.
1983 was also the year that I began to travel around the world, taking a long journey that enriched my life experiences. I lived for three years in England, the US, Canada, Mexico and Latin America. Always accompanied by my Nikon kit, I took the opportunity to photograph a lot, taking infinite advantage of the many opportunities that the New World gave me to take photos, all this helped and in time my experience, composition and technique improved.
In 2005 I moved into digital but not forgetting the nostalgia and anticipation of days passed waiting to pick up my prints from the lab to see the quality.
Now it is all much easier, the results are immediate and if the shots are not any good they are cancelled and re shot. Or rather one knows that you can get quickly used to all this! And what now? I am even more passionate and driven looking for new ideas and inspirations. I photograph a bit of everything even though my preference has always remained unchanged, to be more precise its nature in all its forms and colours.
